Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 West City in Age 1000

The hub is a living city, not Conton City. Learn the GS Squad, university, and who meets you there.

West City and Age 1000

West City is the reason Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 exists. Dimps is not iterating Time Patrol briefing rooms. Age 1000 is a Toriyama-backed future, several generations past Xenoverse 2, and West City is the walkable hub: plazas, cafés, apartments, a university, and the headquarters energy of the Great Saiya Squad. The Welcome to West City trailer (June 2026) is the visual tour. This page is the systems tour. Combat still happens in missions — see How to Play — but your dowtime loop lives here.

What Age 1000 is (and is not)

Official materials place the story in AGE 1000, described as a brand-new future Dragon Ball universe with original characters brought to life by Akira Toriyama. Producer comments after Battle Hour 2026 and Gamescom 2026 say Toriyama wrote new settings and characters that fit a Xenoverse sequel better than another Conton City expansion. It is not a retelling of the Cell Games with a CaC photoshopped into the stands as the default campaign.

You are summoned from “a land far away” in the trailer narration, then recruited because nobody has better leads. That is the isekai-adjacent hook. You still make a custom hero — character creation — but the fiction is “student and GS Squad rookie,” not “Time Patroller rank 99.”

Great Saiya Squad and the university

Regional copy mixes Great Saiya Squad and Great Saiyan Squad. Bandai Namco America uses Saiya; some PlayStation blogs use Saiyan. Same faction: champions-of-justice superhero team operating out of West City, with Gamma 1 and Bulma involved in bringing you in. You also enroll at West City University. Trailer scenes show classrooms, new-student banter, and Lilica introducing herself. The dual life is the hub fantasy: lectures and apartments by day, ki fights when an incident hits “New City.”

Do not expect the Time Nest scroll UI. Expect to walk. Bandai Namco’s customization article says you meet characters, take quests, discover stories, and see other players online in the streets. That makes West City a social lobby with actual geography.

What you pick up on the street

Published pickups:

  • Coins
  • Boosts
  • BGM tracks
  • MistyPix — the important one

MistyPix go to the Fortuneteller Gal. AGE 1000 technology lets her summon franchise characters into the city as mentors. Mentors offer missions. Bond level goes up. Bond points buy Skill Tree nodes: Soul Assist, Soul Switch, Fighting Styles, Super and Ultimate Attacks. If you skip walking the city, you starve your combat loadout. The hub is progression.

Original faces you will actually talk to

Confirmed original debuts: Brett, Lilica, ROM, and Tap. Brett is the music-obsessed partner in the announcement trailer. Lilica is in the classroom greeting. ROM and Tap appear as story allies; Tap reads as a pompadour delinquent Saiyan in community write-ups of the footage. Returning support includes Bulma and Gamma 1. Soul Switch footage has shown Krillin, Piccolo, Vegeta, Future Trunks, and Tien as combat souls — that is a roster topic, but you will see them in the city once summoned.

Longer bios: original characters. Do not invent a full villain org chart; Bandai Namco has not named the campaign antagonist in a complete way. Pink-haired performer jokes in comment sections are not lore.

Missions out of the city

Leaving West City looks like a Superhero scramble: suit up, fly, fight in places such as the glacier Frieza Force mission from the Gameplay Closer Look. Squad size is four. Broly has appeared as a large-scale fight in preview coverage. Beam struggles collide only when both attacks are energy beams, according to community compilation of footage — treat that as presentation, not a full engine bible. When you wipe, you come home. The city is the save-room, shop, and social layer.

How West City changes your study order

If you came from Xenoverse 2, unlearn “log in, PQ list, log out.” A useful Age 1000 hour:

  1. Walk a district and vacuum MistyPix.
  2. Turn them in, summon or rank one mentor.
  3. Spend Bond on one Skill Tree until you own a Ki Drain Super.
  4. Queue a GS Squad mission using How to Play rules.
  5. Come back, change Fighting Style if the motion pack felt awful, using notes on the fighting styles tier.

Still missing from the hub pitch

  • Named shops and housing decoration limits
  • Whether player apartments are instanced or public
  • A full map with district names beyond West City / university / “New City” incidents
  • How many concurrent players a street shard holds

When those land, they will go on the news timeline. Until then, West City is the walkable reason this sequel is not Xenoverse 2 DLC, and the getting started checklist is how you stop waiting for Conton City to return.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is West City replacing Conton City in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3?

Yes as the hub fantasy. Age 1000 West City is the walkable city, university, and GS Squad home. Time Patrol Conton City is the previous games. See also the comparison tool.

Who is in the Great Saiya Squad?

You, plus original allies such as Brett, with Gamma 1 and Bulma involved in recruitment. Full membership is not published. Character notes: original characters.

Do I have to play online to use West City?

The city is described as a place where you see other players, but story missions can be played solo. Cross-play is planned. Exact offline hub behavior is not fully documented yet.

What should I collect first?

MistyPix, because they unlock mentors and therefore your Super Attacks. Coins, boosts, and BGM are extra. Mentor math is on character creation.
