The Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 roster is a custom hero plus a launch pool Bandai Namco quantified as 130 characters including non-fighters, with more promised in updates. That number is not “130 tournament fighters with full kits.” It includes mentors, city NPCs, and combat souls. How to read XV3 character news
- Playable CaC: you. Six races. Character creation.
- Story / hub characters: Brett, Lilica, ROM, Tap, Bulma, Gamma 1, Fortuneteller Gal.
- Soul Switch / Assist targets: franchise fighters whose souls or assists you unlock through Bond. Examples already shown: Krillin, Piccolo, Vegeta, Future Trunks, Tien.
- Boss / preview appearances: Broly in hands-off combat. Preview presence is not the same as a full CaC-style moveset.
- Fighting Style muses: Ginyu, Recoome, Whis, Hit, Piccolo, Goku-motion, Vegeta-motion — these can exist as animation packs even when the person is also a soul.
Producer Masayuki Hirano (Gamescom 2026): some Xenoverse 1 and 2 characters return at launch alongside new ones; 130 includes non-fighters; more later. Galactic Patrol arc content was announced after XV3 production started, so it is not a launch story beat — it is a future update candidate.
Why the CaC still matters more than the guest list
Xenoverse 3’s pitch is not a Sparking Zero-style full roster brawler as the default. You build one body, then rent other bodies through Soul Switch and Assist. Ranking souls is a different article from ranking races. Use the Soul Switch tier list for burst kits and the race tier list for awaken paths.
What we will not list as confirmed
Fan wikis and comment sections have pasted Gohan Beast, Beerus, DAIMA Vegeta, and Gogeta Blue as if they were in a launch spreadsheet. Unless Bandai Namco, Dimps, or a first-party trailer shows them, they stay off the roster confirm table. We would rather under-count than lie. When a State of Play or TGS demo adds a name, it goes on the news timeline the same day we edit the table.
How characters unlock
West City collectibles → Fortuneteller Gal → mentor spawn → Bond missions → Skill Tree. That is the West City loop. There is no published “defeat them in story to unlock as a fighter” list because most of these people are teachers, not fully separate player characters. If a later mode lets you play a pure Vegeta instead of a CaC, it will be a mode note — not the default How to Play path.
