Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 Mentors

Age 1000 teachers arrive through MistyPix and Bond — not a copied Xenoverse 2 classroom list.

Mentors and Bond

Mentors in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 are franchise fighters you summon into Age 1000, raise a Bond with, and spend Bond points on a Skill Tree. That tree is how Soul Assist, Soul Switch, Fighting Styles, and extra Super or Ultimate Attacks get onto a custom hero. The 3 September 2026 combat-customization article is the first-party source. The sequel is still upcoming for 2027, so this page lists confirmed loop + confirmed names, not a fake 130-row teacher spreadsheet.

If you only want the combat fork, read Soul Switch. If you want the body you walk into West City with, read character creation. This article is the classroom in between.

How a mentor actually appears

Age 1000 does not start you in a Time Nest with a mentor board from Xenoverse 2. Official steps:

  1. Collect MistyPix around West City.
  2. Take them to the Fortuneteller Gal. New Age 1000 technology lets her summon characters into the city.
  3. Summoned characters can act as mentors and offer quests and missions.
  4. Completing those missions raises Bond level with that mentor.
  5. Bond points unlock nodes on that character’s Skill Tree: Soul Assist, Soul Switch, Fighting Styles, Super Attacks, Ultimate Attacks.

That is the published loop. There is no official “defeat them in story to unlock as a fully playable fighter” list, because the CaC is still the protagonist. Mentors are teachers and combat resources, not a second roster you pick on the title screen. See the Roster Hub for how 130 characters including non-fighters should be read.

Names that are actually on camera

Do not paste the Xenoverse 2 mentor list into 2027. Confirmed or clearly shown in first-party XV3 material:

  • Soul Switch / Assist examples: Krillin, Piccolo, Vegeta, Future Trunks, Tien (Welcome to West City and follow-up copy).
  • Hub / story faces who are not the same as a Bond teacher until proven: Bulma, Gamma 1, Brett, Lilica, ROM, Tap, Fortuneteller Gal. Bios: original characters.
  • Fighting Style muses named in the battle-system guide: Captain Ginyu, Recoome, Whis, Hit, Piccolo — these can be animation packs even when the person is also a soul. Rankings: fighting styles.
  • 130 characters to learn from at launch, with more later. Producer Masayuki Hirano: some Xenoverse 1 and 2 characters return; the Galactic Patrol arc is not a launch classroom. Future teachers from that arc belong on DLC.

Gohan Beast, Beerus, DAIMA forms, and Gogeta Blue stay off this page until a trailer or Bond UI shows them. We would rather under-count than clone a fan wiki.

What Bond is for in a fight

Bond is not a friendship meter for cutscenes only. Official combat payoffs:

  • Soul Assist: one equipped assist, two charge types, up to two stored charges. Independent summons can appear while you are taking damage or in Ki Break; sync assists hit harder or buff but cannot be called in hitstun. Combat has the input (L2/LT + Square/X).
  • Soul Switch: one soul at a time, exclusive with Awoken Skills. You drop your Super / Ultimate list for the Super Warrior’s.
  • Fighting Styles: 130 packaged motion sets. They do not change Ki Break rules.
  • Supers / Ultimates: four Super slots, one Ultimate. Types include Defense Breaker, Ki Drain, Critical Strike, and utility such as Energy Charge.

If you skip Bond missions, you are leaving the Skill Tree locked. That is the Age 1000 replacement for “go talk to the mentor in the plaza five times.”

Build advice without a fake tier of teachers

Until the full Skill Tree UI is public, pick a lane first:

  • Want to stay your race and stack awakens? Invest Bond in assists and styles, equip Awoken, skip the Switch node. Awoken Skills.
  • Want to become Piccolo for a burst? Spend Bond toward that soul, accept the XOR. Soul Switch tier list is opinion, not patch data.
  • Want motion flavor? A Ginyu or Hit style can sit on an Android body. That is cosmetic-plus-strings, not a second awaken.

Online squads still cap at four. Your mentor does not occupy a squad slot when you Assist; they are a gauge. Teammates are other players or AI partners such as Brett in the glacier mission — How to Play.

What this page will add on day one

A sortable table of Bond skills, unlock conditions, and whether a teacher is hub-only. Until Bandai Namco prints that table, use the confirmed roster for names and this page for the loop. After TGS 2026, if the two demo avatars show a visible mentor callout, it will get a dated note on news and a row here.

Next reads: character creation to lock the XOR, races to pick the body the teacher is grafting onto, and links for the official customization article instead of a leaked Google sheet.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do I unlock mentors in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3?

Collect MistyPix in West City, have the Fortuneteller Gal summon the character, then raise Bond through their missions. Loop details also sit on West City.

Is the Xenoverse 2 mentor list in Xenoverse 3?

Not as a copied classroom. Some XV1/XV2 characters return at launch; only names shown in XV3 trailers and articles are listed here. See the roster.

Does Bond unlock Soul Switch and Awoken?

Bond Skill Trees can unlock Soul Switch, Soul Assist, Fighting Styles, and attacks. Awoken is a race form you equip instead of Switch — Awoken Skills.

Are mentors playable characters?

They teach and can be Assist / Switch targets. The custom hero remains the default protagonist. Read the Roster Hub caveat on the 130-character count.
