Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 at TGS 2026

First Japan hands-on: pick one of two avatars, join the GS Squad, and try to drop Broly before the timer.

Tokyo Game Show 2026

Tokyo Game Show 2026 is the first Japan hands-on for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3. The Dragon Ball official site (31 August 2026) and Bandai Namco’s TGS booth notes are the sources. The show opens 17 September 2026. As of this writing (12 September 2026) the booth has not happened yet — this page is a preview of what visitors will play, not a post-show recap. The retail game remains 2027. A booth is not a release date.

If you cannot fly to Chiba, use the Road Tour for US mall and convention dates, and watch first-party videos on trailers. After the TGS weekend, new footage belongs on the news timeline before it belongs in a “leaked date” thread.

When and where

  • Event: Tokyo Game Show 2026, Japan’s largest game show.
  • Dates: 17 September 2026 (Thursday) through 21 September 2026 (Monday / national holiday), per Bandai Namco’s TGS exhibit notice. The Dragon Ball official English post highlights the 17 September kickoff.
  • Booth: Bandai Namco Entertainment booth, Hall 5 (playable titles). Family Game Park and Asobi Store pop-up are separate Bandai Namco spaces at the show; Xenoverse 3’s hands-on is the Hall 5 exhibit.
  • Also on the Bandai Namco lineup: Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve and other in-house titles. Do not queue for the wrong demo.

This is not a downloadable trial. There is no Steam or PlayStation demo to take home. Same rule as Gamescom and Fun Expo.

What the demo actually is

Official English copy:

  • Latest footage plays on a large monitor at the booth.
  • Visitors in Japan are among the first to play the sequel.
  • You choose one of two playable avatars. Each avatar has a unique combat style and its own Awoken Skill.
  • After you pick, you go on a mission as a member of the Great Saiya (GS) Squad — the same squad framed in West City.
  • The mission ends against Broly (Super), SS Full Power. Defeat him within the time limit to clear.
  • Visitors who try the game receive an original keychain set while supplies / event rules last.

Two locked avatars means you will not get the full six-race character creation menu. Android may or may not be one of the two bodies; the Fight Your Way trailer is still the Android proof, not this booth description. Do not treat the TGS pair as the race tier list.

The Broly fight matches the glacier / snow mission shown in earlier hands-off presentations (Summer Game Fest, Fun Expo). Expect Ki Break, Super gauges, and a Soul Assist or Switch tease — then read Combat when you get home so a booth timer does not become your only mental model.

What TGS will not prove

  • A 2027 calendar day. Release date.
  • The Galactic Patrol arc. That content is post-launch. DLC.
  • Cross-play in the booth (it is a single-player timed mission). Account rules: cross-play.
  • A 130-name roster. You will see Broly as a boss and two CaC-style bodies.
  • Final damage numbers. UI is still “subject to change” on the September battle-system guide.

If a creator films the HUD, compare it to controls and the September guide. If a timer appears on Awoken, check the date of the build: the published rule since Gamescom / September articles is no transformation timer, Ki-limited instead. An old build on the floor would be news; assume the TGS build follows the newer rule until footage shows otherwise.

How to use this page after 21 September 2026

When the show closes, this article should gain:

  • Which two avatars were selectable (race, style, awaken).
  • Whether Soul Switch appeared in the Broly fight.
  • Whether the large-monitor loop was a new trailer (if so, it gets a unique embed on the matching guide — never a second player on this page).
  • Any producer stage comment that changes facts.

Until those notes exist, do not paste foreign-language booth blogs as patch notes. First-party recap pages and the news timeline win.

Planning a visit

TGS business days and public days differ. Badge rules are the show’s, not this wiki’s. Bring time for Hall 5 queues. If you only care about Xenoverse 3, skip photo spots for other Bandai games. After you play, the useful homework is How to Play (three knockdowns, revives) and Soul Switch (XOR with Awoken), not a new date rumor.

International fans: wait for official uploads. Regional YouTube IDs for older trailers are listed on trailers. We will not embed a fan-cam as if it were Bandai Namco.

Next: if you are US-side, check whether Road Tour still has a September–December stop near you. If you are studying systems, skip the queue photos and open Combat.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.
